Analysis of Epson I3200 Printhead A1, E1, and U1 Series

The Epson I3200 printhead is a key model within Epson’s PrecisionCore micro-piezo inkjet technology platform. It is widely used in industrial printing applications, including:

▲ Large-format / wide-format printing
Textile printing (DTG and fabric printing)
▲ Label and packaging printing
▲ Decorative material printing (wallpaper, flooring, ceramic tiles)
▲ Commercial and industrial marking / coding

Compared with printheads designed for desktop or small office printers, the I3200 is engineered with a stronger focus on durability, high productivity, long-term continuous operation, compatibility with various industrial inks (including solvent, eco-solvent, UV, aqueous, dye-sublimation, etc.), and wider print width. These characteristics define it as a true “industrial-grade” printhead.

The I3200 series includes three models:

  1. I3200-A1 (Water-based ink version)

  2. I3200-E1 (Eco-solvent ink version)

  3. I3200-U1 (UV-curable ink version)

Each model corresponds to different application scenarios.

The letters A, E, and U represent Aqueous, Eco-solvent, and UV-curable respectively, while the number “1” indicates that these models are the first generation within their respective categories.

The designation “3200” directly highlights its core strength — it features 3,200 precision nozzles. This number is not just symbolic; it guarantees both high printing resolution and high-speed output.

Epson I3200 Series Appearance and Structural Design

The I3200 series features a compact and precision-engineered structure.

It contains four sets of 8-row nozzle arrays, with 400 nozzles per row, totaling 3,200 nozzles. This configuration ensures uniform ink distribution and refined printing performance.

The effective printing width is 1.3 inches, making it suitable for various format printing requirements.

Epson I3200 Series Printhead Technology

1. PrecisionCore Technology

The I3200 series is equipped with Epson’s proprietary PrecisionCore MicroTFP (Thin Film Piezo) print chip.

Manufactured using ALLMEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) technology, it achieves highly accurate nozzle alignment at 600 dpi / 2 rows.

PrecisionCore technology precisely controls thin-film piezo elements, enabling ink droplets to be nearly perfectly spherical and accurately positioned. This provides a solid foundation for high-quality printing.

2. Variable Droplet Technology

The I3200 series supports Epson’s proprietary Variable Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT), allowing flexible droplet size control and multi-grayscale printing.

This technology significantly reduces image graininess, enhances fine detail rendering, ensures smoother color transitions, and delivers higher color saturation — producing vivid and lifelike printed output.

Advantages of Epson I3200 Printhead

1. High-Precision Printing

The I3200 series achieves a native resolution of 600 dpi, surpassing many comparable products and enabling high-definition, image-level printing performance.

2. High-Speed Printing

In single-head, four-channel, non-feathering mode, the I3200 series can print 26–33 square meters per hour, placing it among the top performers in its class.

Its high production efficiency makes the I3200 an ideal choice for large-scale print jobs, significantly improving workflow productivity.

3. Versatile Application Compatibility

The I3200 series offers three different models compatible with water-based inks, eco-solvent inks, and UV inks.

This versatility allows it to meet diverse application needs and helps customers unlock creative possibilities and added value.

4. High Durability

Thanks to its advanced PrecisionCore processing technology, the I3200 printhead offers exceptional durability.

The series is optimized for stable long-term operation even in demanding environments, ensuring consistent print quality and production efficiency.
